WINSENT

Realisation and characterisation of a South German research platform for wind energy in mountainous and complex terrain

Picture: ZSW | David Arzt

As part of the project, a wind energy test site will be constructed and provided in a mountainous complex terrain. The location of the test site and its equipment have already been identified as part of the project KonTest. The test site offers a real and a virtual environment as well as the opportunity to test new technologies and control strategies. The open platform supports the use of wind energy in complex terrain by improving the prediction of performance and turbine loads and by identifying and exploiting potential for increasing yields and reducing loads. The project is divided into coordination, construction and operation, microclimate and FoWEA.
