The WINSENT test site has two ZSW750.54 wind turbines, each with a rated output of 750 kilowatts, a rotor diameter of 50 meters and a hub height of 72 meters. The special thing about it is that the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) is not only the operator, but also the manufacturer of the turbines. The ZSW engineers therefore have unrestricted access to the design data and control technology of the wind turbines and can replace components or adapt the control system. Thanks to state-of-the-art measurement technology, even the smallest movement of the wind turbines is detected.

Numerical models and digital twins with different levels of detail make it possible to transfer results obtained on the test site to larger wind turbines.
