SENSE2SAVE

Acoustic and radar sensor technology for the detection of bats and birds at wind turbines

Picture: AI generated (ChatGPT)

As part of the SENSE2SAVE research network, a sensor system is to be developed to prevent animal collisions at wind turbines. A radar-acoustic approach and the use of printed components should significantly improve the detection ranges of individuals and groups (e.g. of bats or birds) compared to the status quo. In addition, the use of printed structures offers a cost advantage over conventional sensor technology, which simplifies the use of the envisaged approach in large quantities. The sensor system developed in the consortium is to be tested at two locations during the course of the project.
